What's up with banning system? Do you really ban people for an IP lifetime? I think you should write about restricted things more precisely. If you can, state your policy, please. Thanks a lot. :# :) |

I'm assuming you are referring to the warning you received about using copyrighted material in your submission. I'm not sure how much more clearly you need policies to be stated. Here are three areas where our rules are clear: 1. By registering as a member of Topcoder Studio, you agreed to Terms which clearly state: "You are prohibited from posting or otherwise uploading to our Web site: any material that infringes on any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights of another (including publicity and privacy rights)" A copy of these Terms is linked to the bottom of each Studio page in the footer. http://studio.topcoder.com/?module=Static&d1=about&d2=terms 2. When you Register for each contest, you have to click "I agree" to the TopCoder Studio Official Contest Rules, which state: "All submissions must be fully designed and authored by you solely for the purposes of this contest." 3. Each contest has it's own areas in the Spec Doc that warn you and direct you regarding copyrighted material. For this contest, the Spec Doc clearly (in red, bold lettering) states that you are not allowed to use material you did not create. It also clearly states the following: "By submitting to this contest, you agree to the following statement: We take appropriate action against members who break the rules. |

Well, so if I go to the park and record a bird singing then I attack the privacy of an intellectual property of the bird? :D Funny... But thanks anyway. I'll try to follow the rules, but please tell e about that bird paradox. :) |

Birds do not have intellectual property rights. :) If you do not understand the laws governing IP rights, it would be in your best interest to learn. TopCoder cannot provide legal advice on what is or is not under copyright. |

"Your work mmust be fully your own creativity" - cheese, does that mean that I can't use any program to do that? Cause when I use a program I use it's creativity to solve my problems. By the way I don't think that boinging sound is copirighted: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boing - see: cartoons use that, not cartoon, but cartoons! 8{ So please tell me why haven't you passed it... :) |

Lol: I'm not sure how to make this more clear: The contest required you to submit an original sound created by you. The "boing" sounds you submitted were taken from the Internet. It does not matter if the sound you took was copyrighted or in the public domain -- the fact remains, you did not create it yourself. I think it may be time to take this discussion offline and discuss your account. It is important that the integrity of the contests on Studio is maintained by ensuring the members are not breaking the rules. You have stated in another post that you knowingly submitted a sound that was not created by you, apparently to "test" the system. And now you continue to question why your other submissions (taken from the Internet) failed screening, dispite the fact that I have explained the rules very clearly. I will be emailing you shortly. |
