Round 2 General Feedback
1. Submissions were generally simple and easy to use. Thank you!
2. Advertising - include sponsored events in the upper right most frame. We are planing on advertising scheme similar to Google. Likewise top 2 displayed events should contain sponsor markings.
Round 2 Overall Changes:
There are some of the larger changes that need to go into effect. More details can be found in the contest posting.
1. We are injecting the use of geolocation information in round 2.
2. The default website needs to be usable without a login. Default location set on ip geolocation. Page needs to display events by sorted by distance, date, and time from location.
3. We removed the distinction between a commercial member and a free user.
4. Moving to email posting for events as well as Facebook and Twitter.
5. Basic event search/filter and display event should be combined. Search/filter will be done with the use of sorting column capabilities.
6. An "advanced search" capability is needed.
There were some changes to the web application. Please incorporate these changes into your next round.
Round 2 Details
The goal of Round 2 is to develop the wireframe of a facebook application using the knowledge of the wireframe contest in Round 1 as well as ideas gleaned from the recent Lynx Calendar Text Conceptualization contest (http://forums.topcoder.com/?module=ThreadList&forumID=528268).
Round 2 Deliverables:
A working wireframe application depicting both the Webpage and Facebook application portions of the Lynx Calendar. Wireframes are only visual maps of the flow of pages/screens and nothing more. Any functionality beyond a simple click-through will be scoped out in later contests.
Uniformity:
Please keep in mind that we are looking for the same look and feel across the Facebook and Web applications. In this round, the following components should be very closly related if not identical.
- Map used to display user location and event locations.
- Event display (rows and columns) should appear and behave (multi-sort by column)
- Gui Dialogs should be identical
Facebook Workflow Functionality:
The Facebook application should have all of the same features of the web application except for the login/ authentication system. We will be using the Facebook authentication scheme.
Web Workflow Functionality
The attached workflows ("Round2_Workflows.doc") are mandatory for the web application. Note, these have changed as we have incorporated suggestions from both Round 1 and our Text Conceptualization contest.

Who is your target audience?
- Our target audience is the 175 million users of facebook, all iphone owners, and anyone connected to the web. Our aim is to target anyone who wants to keep in touch with family and friends and update them on what they?re doing or find out what events are scheduled/going on near them at anyplace and anytime.
What are your primary goals for this design?
- Our primary goal is to connect people and events. On your phone and on facebook you have hundreds of friends and family and you always want to do something. Our goal is to sort the chaos. With lynxcalendar you will be able to find events around you anytime of the day or night and find out which friends are going there. If you don't much care where you go and just want to be out and the criteria falls with which 'better' friends are where then you can search events by friends. Also, if you want to keep in touch with family and want to know if there are any birthdays, graduations, showers, etc. search by family members for events posted. Of course when you post you have the choice of who to make your event open to. Our goal is to have all family and friends linked together and their events posted.
How will your design stand out from your competitors?
- We would like for LynxCalendar to convey a sense of simplicity, efficiency, and fun.
- The way we will stand out from our competitors will be in the way that we link everything together. People will be able to import events from facebook as well as manually enter their events in FB/ Iphone.
- While we are emphasizing the fact that we are related to Facebook and Twitter and want our own flair - simplicity is what were aiming for.
Branding Guidelines:
We want to super connect friends, family, and events. The competitors must consider that. The competitors must consider that we plan to have an app for Iphone and facebook that all interconnect with our site. They must also consider that our page represents simplicity, efficiency, and fun.
Judgement Criteria:Wireframe submission will be judged on how well it presents and logically flows through the following items:
- Basic User Workflow
- Basic User Event Search
- User Profile Management
- User Statistics panel
- Basic Administrative Functionality
- Paid Usage Workflow
- Order Processing For Paying Users
| Other: | Wireframes should NOT address design - Wireframes are meant to provide content, convey the hierarchy of information and show content groupings. - Provide an intuitive user experience - Analyze navigational possibilities and recommend a solution - Make sure to address all the requirements - The amount of pages/screens is up to you - Usability must be one of your biggest concerns - Wireframes must only be black, gray and white - no color - Wireframes must address the user interface as well as the flow of the application |
